of Agriculture’s proposed
regulations implementing
provisions of Title II of the
Energy Security Act
(Biomass, Energy and
Alcohol Fuels Loan and Loan
Guarantees), Deputy
Agriculture Secretary

nounced last Friday.

certain parts of the Act,
which was signed into law by
President Carter on June 30,
1980.
The public hearings will be
held at the following
locations. Macon, Georgia,
on August 25 at the Macon
Hilton, 108 First St., Des
Moines, lowa, on August 27
at the Hyatt House, 6215
Fleur Dr., and Lubbock,
Texas, on August 29 at the
Holiday Inn, 6624 Avenue H.
In order to gam the widest
possible public par
ticipation, the hearings at
each location will run from
9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., from
2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7
p m. to 9 p.m. local times.
The Energy Security Act
authorizes $6OO million for
the Department of
Agriculture’s program of
loans and loan guarantees to
alcohol fuels and other
biomass energy projects
over the next two years

assist energy projects which
use agricultural or forestry
