First year 4-H’er shows grand champion hog
champion market hog and
the reserve grand champion
fitter honors were taken by
Dave Arnold, Lebanon.
The following are the show
results:
LEBANON - Eight-year
old Daryl Grumbine, a first
year 4-H’er, swept the
championship honors at the
Lebanon Area Fair’s 4-H,
Hog Show on Wednesday. '
His mediumweight hog
took first place in its class
and was later tagged
champion in its medium
weight division by Judge
Donald Trostle, a Spotted
Poland China breeder from
Red Lion.
Grumbine fitted his
fullblood Duroc gilt, pur
chased earlier this year
from Rodger Bankert,
Hanover, in a manner that
earned him the recognition
of grand champion fitter of
the show.
And, in bis first year in
competition, the young
showman took the reserve
champion honors in the
showmanship competition
also.
Daryl is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Dennis Grumbine, R 2
Myerstown. The Grmnbines
raise purebred Hampshire
hogs which Daryl has been
helping to show since the
early age of three, according
to his father.
The grand champion
showman of this year’s show
was Edwin Houser,
Lebanon. The reserve grand
