Valley-Pond Astrocount Ann, a 5 year old cow sired by her namesake Valley- Pond Astrocount and out of Miss U N H Fourty-Nmer, was chosen as the best Holstein at Thursday’s Open Dairy Show out of over 160 other entries. She was also tagged Senior Champion and was the first place animal m her class of Aged Cows, along with being the Best Uddered Cow. Judge Wolff followed the Grand Champion with a Reserve Champion out of the 4 year old class. Lime Tock Astronaut Sue Apple, bred by Hubert S. Sired by Paclamar Astronaut and out of Lime Rock P. Sue Apple, she began her win ning streak by placing first in her class of 4 year olds. She was selected as the second Best Uddered Cow in the show. The Miller Estate also had the first place Junior and Semor Get of Sire, Dairy Herd, and Dam and Daughter. In the Colored Breed Show, Judge Earl Keefer, Millersburg looked at close to 90 animals in the Jersey, Guernsey, Ayrshire, and Brown Swiss shows. This was one of the biggest en tries ever in Lebanon Area Fair History. Her 2 year old entry, Maulfair Acres S.S. Milk dud, was tagged the Grand Champion and Best Uddered Cow in the show. This was her second grand cham pionship this week, having been named the best entry in the 4-H and FFA show on Tuesday. Maulfair’s Reserve Grand Champion was her In termediate Heifer Calf. Maulfair Acres Forest MeriNoel was also named the Junior Champion of the show. In the Brown Swiss competition, Gary Mase, Lebanon, captured the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion honors. The Guernsey Grands were also tied up by one farm. Jacob Smith and Son, Annville had both the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion entries. Their 2 year old entry, Pmey Lane TH Hornet Medusa, was selected by Judge Keefer as the Grand Champion and Best Uddered Cow in the show. She was also the Semor Champion. The Reserve Grand Champion rosette went to their Senior Yearling, Lebanon Valley Pen Col Waltma. And in the Jersey show, Sue Bomberger took home the Grand Champion trophy with her 3 year old entry, Jersey Acres Bruce Jill. She was the Best Uddered Cow and the Semor Champion in the show. The Reserve Grand Champion was Marilyn Deaven’s Semor Calf entry.
