Cumberland Plowing
Contest winners named
WILLIAMS GROVE - Bill
Crain, R 6 Carlisle, and bis
son Gary won two divisions
of the Cumberland County
Plowing Contest, Thursday.
Bill won the contour plowing
contest, while Gary won the
large plow level land con
test. The contest was held on
a farm operated by Robert
Berkheimer, located near
Williams Grove.

who have won contests m
their home county.”
Plowmen will compete m
three divisions: Large
plows, level land - four or
more furrows; Small plows,
level land - up to three
furrows; and Contour
(conservation) plowing with
any size plow chosen by the
contestant.

represented Pennsylvania in
the Large and Small plow
classes. Both contestants
placed sixth. Large plow
winner was Monroe Miller of
lowa. Small plow winner
was Werner Gruber of
Minnesota.
