    17th Dairy All-American
HARRISBURG The 17th Pennsylvania AU-Amencan
Dairy Show, an international showcase for the dairy in
dustry, will be held Monday, September 22, through
Friday, September 26 at the Farm Show Complex m
Harrisburg
This year’s show will feature six “All American” breed
shows, two breed sales, the Pennsylvania Dairy Princess
Coronation, the Dairy Shrine Annual Meeting and Honors
Banquet, and many commercial exhibits
The six dairy breeds Ayrshire, Brown Swiss,
Holstein, Milking Shorthorn, Guernsey and Jersey will
be competing for more than $66,000 in premiums
The two breed sales will feature Brown Swiss and
Holstein
Approximately 12 foreign countries will be represented
at the show and are included in the International Visitors
Program A number of receptions and tours have been
planned for the visitors to make their stay in Penn
sylvania worthwhile and pleasant
A number of events for youth, including junior and
intercollegiate dairy cattle judging contests and forums,
are planned. The coronation of the Pennsylvania Dairy
Princess at the All-American Dairy Show is an attractive
show for all members of the family

average of 3.71 pounds per
day for 140 days on a high
roughage ration during a
cold and wet winter This
was the highest average
daily gam of all 253 bulls
representmg nine breeds on
test. Pen feed efficiency was
measured at 7.32 pounds of
feed per pound of gam
Mr Barton’s 365 day
adjusted yearling weight
was 1302 pounds, the
heaviest of all bulls on the
test. The bull’s weight per
day of age was 3 60 pounds,
also topped the test
BCR Mr Barton 9123 was
sired by BCR Mr. Barton
441, also bred by Barton
Charolais Ranch and owned
jointly with Sonderup
Charolais of Fullerton,
Nebraska.
There were 37 bulls on test
from eight cooperators.
These bulls’ average daily
gam was 2 98 pounds with
weight per day of age of 2.89
pounds.
