GOOEY SHOOFLY PIE

1 cup molasses
1 cup hot water
1 teaspoon soda
Crumbs;
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons melted butter
Beat the egg and add molasses. Dissolve soda m the hot
water. Add it to the molasses and egg mixture. Mix the
crumb mixture well with your hands and save % cup
crumbs to sprinkle on the top. Put the rest into the gooey
mixture in an unbaked pie shell and sprinkle crumbs on
the top. Bake at 400* F. for 15 minutes then reduce heat
and complete baking at 325* F. for approximately 35
minutes. Makes 1 large pie.
Crumbs;
V* cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1% cups flour
y* teaspoon salt
Liquid:

1 cup molasses
% cup boiling water
In a medium sized bowl, beat the egg, then add the
molasses. Add boiling water to the soda, then add to the
molasses mixture and mix well. Put liquid into bottom of
the crust. Mix the ingredients for the crumbs and sprinkle
over the liquid. This is a gooey bottomed pie. Bake 15
minutes in 400° F. oven, then 350* F. for 35 minutes. Makes
19-10 inch pie.

WET BOTTOM SHOO FLY PIE
1 cup flour
% cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup dark molasses
% cup boiling water
1 teaspoon soda
I beaten egg
Mix the flour, sugar and butter and set aside half of the
mixture. Combine the remaining ingredients and mix the
liquid with Vt of the crumb mixture. Pour into an unbaked
pie shell and cover with the remaining crumbs. Bake for
II minutes at 375° F. and for 30 minutes additional tune at
350° F.

1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon soda
% cup lard
Mix the liquid part of the pie and pour mto an unbaked
pie shell. Mix the topping and pour on top of the gooey
mixture. Bake in 400° F. oven for 10 minutes and turn the
oven back to 350° F. for 30 minutes. Makes 4 pies.

WET BOTTOM SHOO FLY PIE
Crumbs:
1% cups flour
1 cup brown sugar
V* cup margarine
V* teaspoon salt
cup margarine
Liquid:
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups molasses
IV4 cups hot water
IVi teaspoons baking soda
Mix the liquid part and pour into the bottom of unbaked
pie shells. Mix the crumbs and pour on top of the liquid.
Bake the pies m 400° F. oven for 15 minutes and reduce the
heat to 325° F. for another 25 minutes. Makes 3 8-mch or 2
9-inch pies.
