Society 1
York Society 1 met at the
home of Iva Craft recently.
The Society went on a bus
trip Wednesday. The county
picnic will be held at the 4-H
Center on Thursday, July 31
and will consist of a covered
dish lunch served at noon.
Group 1 will entertain
Group 15 on Wednesday,
August 6 at Rocky Ridge
Park.
Margaret Wentz gave a
demonstration on cake
decorating. The cakes were
won by Dorothy Riegel,
Jessie Gross and Esther
Yeager. Mary Decker won
the door prize. Dorothy
Riegel won the pig.

Society 2
York Group 2 met at the
home of Gayle Dunkel
recently for a luncheon.
The group discussed a bus
tnp in the fall. They also
made plans for a fall bazaar.
The August meeting will
be held at the home of Lois
Wetzler.

conduct a public hearing for
the Southeastern Milk
Marketing Area, Area No. 1,
Zone 2, to be held in the
Valley Forge Room of the
Downmgtown Inn, U.S.
Route 30, Downmgtown,
Pennsylvania, beginning
Monday, September 8, 1980
at 10 a.m.
Testimony will be received
concerning minimum prices
which milk dealers shall pay
producers for various
classes of milk, minimum
prices which milk dealers
shall charge to other
licensees, minimum pnces
which dealers shall charge
to consumers, minimum
prices milk dealers shall
charge to wholesale
customers such as stores,
restaurants, institutions,
etc., and minimum prices
which stores shall charge
consumers for consumption
off the premises, for various
types, classifications and
containers of fluid milk and
milk products.
This hearing has been
called by the Milk Marketing
Board upon a Petition
received from the Suburban
Milk Dealers’ Association.

referenced hearing on or

documentary evidence shall
be accompanied by a sworn
affidavit of the witness
presenting such evidence
that the information con
tamed therein is true and
correct to the best of the
witnesses’ information and
belief.
No evidence of the types
indicated above which has
not been subnutted to the
Board within the tune limits,
and in the manner indicated
above shall be permitted into
the record of this hearing.
Cattle shipment
clears new
U.S. quarantine
KEY WEST, Fla. The
first shipment of cattle to
enter the United States
through the U.S. Depart
ment of Agriculture’s Harry
S. Truman Animal Import
Center, Key West, Fla., was
released from quarantine on
Wednesday.
These cattle have
desirable traits that have
been available to U.S. cattle
breeders becar e of the
presence of foot-and-mouth
disease and other exotic
animal diseases in their
home country. Through the
Truman Center—operated
by USDA’s Animal and Plant
Health Inspection Service—
these cattle can be safely
imported.
The cattle were quaran
tined and tested in Brazil,
their country of origin,
before coming to the Key
West facility.
