A3o Saturday, July 12,1980 Tractor winners ELVERSON As a close of the year test of their driving abilities, Twin Valley FFA members competed in a local tractor driving contest. This contest consisted of having to hitch a tractor to a manure spreader, pull it through an obstacle course in a figure 8 pattern, and then back it into a stall with two inches of clearance on each side. Students received deduction each time they touched any part of the obstacle course or stall, whenever equipment was fouled (touched the rear tractor tires), and for each half-inch the spreader was offcenter in the stall. Points were also given each time the student changed direction or violated a safety rule. All students were given the opportunity to complete this part of the contest. Those students who per formed best were then allowed to try the 4-wheeled wagon event. Here a student had to hitch to a 4-wheeled wagon, pull front a Montgomery 4-H fashion show Thursday MORRISTOWN - The public is invited, free of charge, to attend the Montgomery County 4-H Fashion Revue on Thursday evening, July 17 at 8:00 p.m. - It will take place at the 4-H Center, located in Landsale on Snyder Road, off route 363. “Fashion for the 80’s” will feature local 4-H’ers aged 8- 19 modeling garments that they have constructed m 4-H clothmg projects during the past year. The projects will vary from cotton and wool skirts, to 2 and 3 piece outfits as well as totebags and ponchos. The County 4-H Fashion Revue is a highlight of the county 4-H program. Winner of the contest was Chapter President Donald Stoltzfus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey W. Stoltzfus, R 1 Morgantown. Capturing second was Tim Stoltzfus, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Stoltzfus, R 2 Elverson. Both Don and Tim are now eligible to represent the chapter in the Berks County contest at the Kutztown Fair in August.
