Noman A. Berg, chief of the USDA’s Soil Con servation Service, said reports from the 10-state area indicate wind damaged 5,134,163 acres for the seven month season, up 80 percent from 2,874,385 wind damaged acres for the same seven months in 1979 Berg said the major factors contributing to wind erosion this season were low levels of protective residue, excessive tillage, loose topsoil caused by freezing and thawing and large areas left unseeded because of drought New & Used Silos New & Used Extensions Tear down & Rebuild Gunite silo relining & repairs Replastering, roofs, permanent pipe & distributors Jamesway Unloaders Barn Equipment Write or Call DETWEILER SILOS Rd 2 Box 267-D Newville, PA 17241 Phone: 717-532-3039 717-776-7533 717-776-3288 The next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 5 at 7 p.m. at Sarah Weber’s home.
