Multi-million dollar plant expansion SHIREMANSTOWN - The Ralston Purina recently completed a multi-million dollar expansion and renovation at its Harrisburg Chow plant. A new Toledo com puterized batch mixing system was installed. This new mixing system along with 13 new K-tron feeders, and a program controller now give Harrisburg the capacity to have ingredient accuracy to within one-tenth of a period. To unprove efficiency and insure quality, a completely new gram receiving station was built. A new automatic gram probe was installed and each gram shipment is checked before it is unloaded. John Zerbe, director of operations at the Harrisburg Chow plant, said the manufacture of high quality feeds with cost efficient computerized milking equipment will allow Harrisburg Chow plant to produce high quality Puma Chows and give value to their Purina customers. •ealei Purina’s Harrisburg Chow plant.
