Sbem Kattreides is a senior
at Biglerville High School
and is a member of the
Jefferson 4-H Club in York
County and the Heidlersburg
Community 4-H Club in
Adams County During her

Limousin judging
PARKERSBURG, W.V. -
Last Saturday was bright
and sunny for Bobby Line,
Carlisle and the other 290
people who attended the
Eastern Limousin Breeders
Association field day here at
Harry Kesterson and Sons
Farm on June 14.
It was a grand day for
Bobby who ' /aiked away
from the Junior judging
contest as the top judge. In
the same division, Lisa
Westfall of Spencer, West
Virginia, came in second.
The field day participants
judged four classes of
Limousin cattle. It was a
great opportunity for many
to see the type of cattle the
breeders are attempting to
produce while giving them a
chance to practice their
judging skills.
In the Senior division, Dale
Schott of Bolivar, Ohio came
in first place, with second
place going to Chns Day,
Coolville, Ohio.
In the Junior steer show,
two brothers took home the
top honors. Charlie Conrad,
she would respond to a
youngster who said he
thought milk tasts “yukky.”
Sherri replied, “I would
tell him to try different ways
of drinking milk and using
dairy products.”
Other contestants included
Debra A. Lauchman,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Howard H. Lauchnian, New
Oxford Rl; Gail Smith,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs
Glenn Smith, Aspers Rl;
Karen E. Sprague, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Roger
Sprague, Gettysburg R 3;
and Joyce Zepp, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Zepp,
Rockport, W.V., and his
brother Joe captured the
grand and reserve grand
championship placings
respectively.
Present at the field day
were Larry Sterling,
Reedsville, W.V , president
of the Eastern Limousin
Breeders Assoc.; Greg
Martin, Denver, Colorado,
executive vice-president of
the North American
Limousin Foundation; and,
John Peters, W.V. Extension
specialist.
Future events planned by
the association include; first
National Eastern Limousin
Show, Highland
Fairgrounds, Hillsboro, Ohio
on September 6; and a
Junior heifer show, Eastern
National, Timonium,
Maryland.

Retiring Dairy Princess
Christine Gitt presented the
skit she gave to elementary
students to promote dairy
products and expressed her
appreciation at having the
opportunity to represent
Adams County Dairy Far
mers.
She said, “I’ll miss it. It
was a challenge I was proud
and honored to be Dairy
Princess. It is important for
us all to promote milk and to
get the message across to
consumers.”
Judges for the contest
included Connie Harness,
chief of the agriculture
promotions office for the
Department of Agriculture;
Thomas Dumm, Perry
County dairyman; and
Richard M. Smith, manager
of the Chambersburg office
of the Production Credit
Association of York, and a
farmer in partnership with
his son.
Master of Ceremonies was
N. Alan Bair, director of
member services for
Atlantic Breeders
Cooperative.
Entertainment was
