There are just too many
things to do this month. The
ram not only makes the
vegetables grow but also the
weeds m my garden. I should
be out there hoeing instead
of writing this but I suppose
they’ll wait a bit longer.
As I pass the ms bed (my
daughter sent them from
Portland and the flowers
were huge and varied), I
pause to pull some tall grass
along the edge. Hurriedly I
throw the weeds over the
meadow fence and rush for
another bucket to pick the
balance of the sugar peas.
In the Winter people say,
“Call me when the peas are
ready”, but when I do, they
are too busy to prepare
them.
The pork roast and
potatoes should be put m the
oven. And, I know my
husband would appreciate
some shortcake to go with
the strawberries that I’ve
just picked, so I start the
meal a little earlier than
usual.
The program for our 4-H
Community Club should be
planned and typed. But there
are many phone calls before
everything is finalized. Oh
yes, Cindy would like me to
type her “story” for the 4-H
Blue Form and it is late at
night. When I discovered
that I’d typed two lines on

Of course I’m not the only
one who is busy. The men got
the corn planted late due to
the wet weather, a newly
paved lane that we couldn’t
drive on and a lot of manure
to haul. And don’t forget the
stones to be picked up and
several fresh cows all the
same day.
Then of course something
always breaks and I’m sent
for a bearing, a seal, a
bracket, etc.
I’m looking forward to a
breather although I have no
idea when that might be
unless driving our daughter
and new grandson to New
York could be considered
one.
