Friends and family of Luke Kurtz, R 1 Fleetwood,
joined in helping clean up the aftermath of a
disaster which cost the dairyman 30 head of cattle.

approximately 9 p.m. when
the accident occurred. The
light was reported to have
been seen several miles
away.
Kurtz indicated he heard it
happen and could see the
flashes from his bedroom
window.
“It was like dayhght
outside,” he said. The
flashes were so bright he
could see a neighboring farm
as clear as if it were day.
The voltage earned

Luke Kurtz lost 24 milking cows and six heifers in a freak accident Sunday
evening. The aftermath of the disaster was cleaned up with help from friends
and neighbors.
The cows were killed when a high voltage line went
down during a storm.
