June 10 to 12
UNIVERSITY PARK -
Pennsylvania FFA Ac
tivities Week June 10 to 12 at
Penn State will have as its
theme, “Preparing for
Progress.” -
The annual event will be
sponsored jointly by the
Department of Agricultural
Education in the College of
Agriculture and the Penn
sylvania Department of
Education, Harrisburg.
Highlighting the annual
event will be 24 state FFA
contest in which 1931 FFA
members will demonstrate
their agricultural skills and
abilities. New this year is a
contest m conservation and
wildlife management. The
Pennsylvania FFA Princess
will be chosen June 11.
Co-chairmen for FFA
Activities Week are Edgar
P. Yoder of the Department
of Agricultural Education at
Penn State and Charles F.
Lebo of the Pennsylvania
Department of Education.
Participants will be in
volved in a variety of
educational demonstrations
throughout the week. In
cluded will be a leadership
development workshop and
trout fishing. Special tours
will mclude visits to modem

Much of the success of
Edgefield Farms Ken at
tributes to his parents. But
the visitor knows without a
doubt that Ken and Connie
Rutt have taken whatever
help his parents gave him
and built upon it with a
strong management
program. He says, “Our goal
here is to manage what we
have better.”

opportunity to discuss
agricultural careers and
college programs with
personnel from the College
of Agriculture.
Glyn R. Boone, State FFA
president from New
Alexandria, and 10 fellow
officers, will preside over
the daily business meetings
and general sessions of the
Pennsylvania Association of
FFA.
The State FFA Band,
directed by Ned C. Delhi of
Penn State, and the State
FFA Chorus, directed by
Jack Shaffer of Central High
School, Martinsburg, will
present concerts at general
sessions each day.
Contest winners will be
announced at the final
general session on June 12 at
9 a.m. in Eisenhower
Auditorium. Awards will
include expense-paid trips to
national and regional FFA
contests.
Presenting the awards will
be James C. Fink, State FFA
Advisor, and Charles F.
Lebo, Adult Treasurer of the
Pennsylvania FFA, both
from Harrisburg.
