higher; Heifers closed 25-50
higher. Cows continued
under downward pressure
and closed 50-1.50 lower
Bulls were firm.

Good demand charac
terized the fed cattle trade
following the long holiday
weekend. Most interests
were in need of cattle for
immediate requirements
and were aggressive for
numbers, including
slaughterers outside the
immediate Omaha area. The
advance in live prices was
supported by a firm tone in
the carcass trade which
began late the previous
week. The overall finish of
the Steer and Heifer supply
was quite attractive with a
liberal percentage Choice,
and a moderate volume
Choice and Prune; in ad
dition, most consignments
did not carry an excessive
percentage of yield grade 4
animals. Slaughter Steers
made up approximately 56
pet of the weeks total and
Heifers 29 pet. Cows com
prised 10 pet and Feeders
scarce.
