Hilomm Societies Berks Co. Society 5 Twenty-two members and their guests enjoyed a ham and turkey dinner served at the Group 5 Mother and Daughter Banquet held at Zoar’s Lutheran Church, Mt. Zion. The program for the evening was musical selections on the piano, cow musical saw and trumpet, by Rev. Horst. His daughter, Renee Horst, did a puppet show “Darnel in the Lion’s Den”. Rev. Horst also gave a short talk. Group 5 will sponsor a ham on roll sale Saturday, June 7. Mary Darkes, Carolyn Feeg, and Anna Moyer volunteered to help at Berks Heim picnic, Sunday, June 8. A donation of $5O was given to a local family whose trailer was destroyed by fire. Society 6 Crime prevention was the program for Society 6 in May at the home of Erma Bauer, Oley. Oley police chief George Endy told the women ways to keep burglars out of a home. He stressed “don’t make crime pay.” A donation of twenty dollars was made to the memorial fund of Christ Lutheran Church, R 2 Oley, in memory of Paul Schegel. The president announced that Berks Heim picnic and open house will be held Sunday, June 8. Sallie Hauseman, Mrs. Carl Herbein and Mrs. Earl Hoffman will work at the food stand.
