sylvania’s State FFA
President from Derry,
conceived the idea for a
chapter exchange program
that would give FFA
members across the state
the opportunity to ex
perience cultural and agri
cultural ways of life dif
ferent from their own. Glyn
worked closely with State

Soybean growers
ST LOUIS, Mo. -
American soybean growers
plan to plant 1.7 percent
fewer acres than in 1979
according to a survey
released today by American
Soybean Association
economist Parry Dixon
The decrease means
farmers will plant 70.35
million acres of soybeans
this spring. In 1979, soybean
planted area totaled 71.6
million acres
The ASA planting in
tentions survey represents a
1.3 percent decrease in
soybean plantings from
USDA’s April Prospective
Plantings Report that
showed a .4 percent decrease
from 1979.
The planting intentions
have been divided into five
regional areas;
A 1.8 percent decrease in
the Eastern Corn Belt states
of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio,
Kentucky, Michigan and
Wisconsin.
A 1.9 percent decrease in
the Western Com Belt states
of lowa, Minnesota,
FFA Secretary, Kathy
Jones, of Philadelphia to
arrange a pilot exchange
between their respective
chapters.
Hopefully, the success of
this first exchange will
encourage chapters
throughout Pennsylvania to
participate in this
educational experience.
