Report supplied by USDA
Midweek prices on Slaughter
Steers were 50-75 lower
under a rather cautious
demand most days. Heifers
were 25-50 lower, instances
75 off. Cows closed 1.50-2.50
lower, bulls 1.00-2.00 higher.
Four Day receipts 13,700

A Year Ago 13,100
Supplies were moderately
reduced from the previous
week, but were rather poorly
distributed over the trading
period. Demand was fairly
good, but most buying in
terests were on the cautious
side in reflection of an un
settled carcass trade early.
Late inquiry was also
tempered by the ap
proaching non-slaughter
Memorial Day weekend. The
overall finish of the Steer
and Heifer supply was still
attractive with a liberal
percentage choice, although
many consignments were
Mixed 3 and 4 yield grade.
Slaughter Steers made up
approximately 50 pet and
Heifers 29 pet. Cows com
prised 12 pet and feeders 5
pet.
