    Lancaster Conservation District schedules farm tours
* LANCASTER - The
Lancaster County Con
servation District will
sponsor a bus tour of farms
and industries on June 10,
1980 which will show a
variety of conservation
practices.
The tour will start at 8:30
a.m. from the Farm and
Home Center parking lot,
1383 Arcadia Road.
The first stop will be at the
new Willow Valley Shopping
Center where the storm
water management system
will be pointed out. Also,
those desiring to join the tour
at this pomt will be picked up
at 8.45 a.m. at the gravel
parking lot on the west side
of Route 222 just north of the
entrance to the Willow
Valley Restaurant

Stemman Farm, which won
the 1979 Regional Maurice K.
Goddard Forestry Award.
Foresters will discuss forest
management practices and
marketing and harvesting of
timber.
Next stop will be
Philadelphia Electric’s
Muddy Run Pump Storage
Hydro-Electric Plant. Here,
the group will tour the power
plant to see how the pump
storage electric generating
system operates. Also, a
special presentation on the
potential shad fishery of the
Susquehanna River and the
steps Philadelphia Electric
will take m the future at the
Conowmgo Dam will be
shown.

the Second Annual Field Day
and Junior Heifer Show, for
June 21, 1980, at Myers
Charolais Farm, Clear
Spring, Maryland.
Events of the field day will

contest will take place at
