Midweek prices on
slaughter steers were weak
to 25 cents lower. Heifers
closed mostly steady. Cows
were 1.00-1.50 higher and
bulls were steady.
Four day receipts 15,000,
last week 13,500, a year ago
12,400.
The fed cattle trade was
characterized by a good
demand by all interests on
expanded marketings, in
cluding buying interests
outside the immediate
Omaha area. Consignments
included a moderate volume
of cattle from outside the
normal trade territory.
Prices showed a high degree
of stability with day-to-day
variations quite mild. Firm
carcass prices and fairly
good demand the forepart of
tile week provided the major
stimulation in live trading.
The overall finish of the
steer supply was quite at
tractive with a libera!
percentage choice, although
many consignments were
mixed 34; much of the
heifer crop was good to
average-choice. Slaughter
steers made up ap
proximately 53 pet and
heifers 33 pet. Cows com
prised 8 pet and feeders 6
pet.
