A36—Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, May 17,1980 OXFORD On Saturday, May 31 at the Oxford Research Club, Locust Street, five enthusiastic young ladies will vie for the title of Chester County Dairy Princess 1980. Each of these young ladies are qualified, knowledgeable “dairy” promoters with an active involvement in dairying. Yvonne Jolene King, 20 year old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph King, Cochranville, a graduate of Octorara High School is currently a student at Goldey Beacom College. Yvonne was very active m school being a member of student council, National Berks Blueform winners announced LEESPORT - County entrants for the 1980 National 4-H Awards Program were judged Tuesday, May 6, at the Berks County Agricultural Center. 4-H members submit a Pennsylvania 4-H Members Record Book, commonly referred to as a Blueform. A Blueform is an organized presentation of what a 4-H member has learned and accomplished through years in 4-H. The Blueform entries are judged on the depth, variety, progression, and values obtained from 4-H projects; activities they have participated in, both in and out of 4-H; and a 4-H story recording progressive growth in learning and maturity through 4-H. Berks County winning Blueform entries will be sent to the Pennsylvania State University for competition with 4-H’ers from across the state. Winners chosen at the State Level (Keystone Winners) will be interviewed and hopefully chosen for competition at the National Level, which includes a week’s trip to the National 4- H Center m Chicago, Illinois. Currently while attending college she has made the Dean’s list. The King family operates a Holstein dairy farm with a milking herd of seventy-five. Diane Marie Weaver of Narvon. is the daughter of Earl R. Weaver, Akron. This 18 year old contestant is the herdsman for Robert Campbell. In Ephrata High School, Diane was known for her active roll in FFA, the dairy judging team and her church youth group ac tivities. gardening; Jayne Malsbury, Rehrersburg Adventurers, dairy foods; Allan Rohr bach, Virginville, agricultural; Connie Ohlinger, Northern Berks Dairy Club, achievement; Pamela Keeney, Rehrer sburg Adventurers, clothing; and Christine Rebman, Rehrersburg Adventurers, home management. Suzahne Yeager, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Yeager, Phoenixville, at tends Phoenixville High School. This 16 year old contestant is very active. She enjoys hockey, basketball, LaCrosse, is a member of the girl’s varsity club, treasurer of Tri- Commumty 4-H Club, and her youth group. Even with all of her activities, Suzanne finds time to help with the Holstein herd of fifty. Lisa Laffey, Cochranville, is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Norman G. Laffey, Sr. A student at Octorara High School, Lisa plans to attend college after graduation. She is active m many clubs in cluding 4-H for 6 years, yearbook staff, and National Honor Society. The family farm is a busy place with a 300 cow Holstein herd. Elizabeth G. Woolaston, the daughter of Charles T. Wollaston, Toughkenamon, is a student at Kennett High School. Betsy enjoys Manor 4-H Club and serves as vice president of the London Grove 4-H sewing club. The Kennett school band welcomes her as a member. Although, Betsy is undecided as to what to do after graduation, the Jersey herd at home keeps her busy now. The Chester County Dairy Princess 1980 will attend and participate m the Penn sylvania State Dairy Princess Pageant in Sep tember.
