Berks Society 5 held their
April meeting at the home of
Grae Carvell, Richland.
Eighteen members were
present, and answered roll
call by giving a safety tip
Plans were completed for
the mother and daughter
banquet to be held Friday
May 23 at 7 p.m. m Zoars
Lutheran Church, Mt. Zion.
A volunteer tea was held at
Berks Heim. In April,
adopted patients were
visited. Mary Darkes and
Alberta Keener helped at the
Berks Heim Bingo Party.
The Group took a bus trip
to New York City on
Saturday.

The annual Everybody’s
Birthday Party of Group 9,
Berks County Farm Women
was held at the Yellow House
Hotel, for dinner and a gift
exchange.
Members of the Group
were invited to attend the
Volunteers Dinner spon
sored by the Boyertown
Multi-Services. Two
members volunteered to
bake cookies for the Berks-
Heim Tea.
The next meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs.
Karen Schrierer, for a
canning demonstration.

\ Mother s Day program
was held Saturday at 1 30
p.m at the Church of God,
Elizabethtown.
Hostesses were Sara
Myer, Miriam Heisey, Edyth
Burbaker, Mane Hoffer and
Barbara Eberly. A luncheon
was served to thirty guests
and members. Members of
Society 28 and some County
Officers attended.
A donation was given
toward the Dairy Pageant.
October 10-11 the Crippled
Hospital is havmg a craft
and sale date. May 14 is the
deadline to enter, all par
ticipants will receive the
money benefits of their
project
The project was accordion
music by two sisters
Laverne Oberholtzer and
Linda Kreider.
Mrs. Norman Diehl spoke
on the theme "“Mother”. She
stated love is the essence of a
good mother and family
relationship.
On Thursday June 5, at 12
p.m. the group will be guests
of Society 15 at Black Rock
Retreat.

Entertainment consisted
of a tour of northwestern
India by means of colored
slides. The workmanship,
the intricate designs of the
magmficant buildings, in
cluding many temples, and
the history associated with
them contributed to an in
teresting trip presented by
Mr. Bruce Ryder.
Several members gave
their impressions of the
Spring Rally in York.
The June meeting will be
held at the Neffsville Fire
Hall at which time the
members of Society 1 wul be
entertained.

entertained Society 22 and
the county officers at the
Haffman Community
Building in Quarryville
recently, on April 21, 1980 at
7:00 p.m. for supper.
Money donations were
approved for Hospice and
the Dairy Princess Contest.
Donald Naunan, the head
psychologist for IU 13, gave
a slide presentation and talk
on the services of IU 13 in
Lancaster and Lebanon
counties.
