D4—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, May 10,1980 Lancaster DHIA supervisors receive merit awards LAMPETER Several Lancaster County DKIA supervisors recently received Awards of Merit for length of service and ex cellence of work. The awards were presented at the meeting of the Southeast Pennsylvania Supervisors of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. Senior member of the group was Harold Lin decamp, R 2 Peach Bottom, who received his 24th merit award in 30 years of service. Close behind was Wilbur Houser, Lampeter, who received his 23rd merit award in 25 years with DMA. Being honored with their 19th award were Moses Martin, Ephrata; and Jay Risser, lancaster. Both men have 21 years service with the DMA. Harold Brenneman, R 1 Strasburg, was given his 13th award in 15 years with the DHIA. Lee Landis, R 1 Narvon, received his 12th award in 14 years. Jay Mylin, R 6 Manheim, was presented with his ninth award in 11 years of service. Floyd Zook of Strasburg, a six-year member of the DHIA team, received his fourth such award. Thomas G. Garrett, R 2 \ Palmyra, was presented his first merit award. To be eligible for the award, a DHIA supervisor must have one < full year’s service as of January 1 of the year for which the award was made. He must be a full time supervisor and he must keep up with DHIA work. Testers must attend two of three conferences held during the year, have an average mailing time of not over 2.9 days, have less than three percent of his herds tested outside the centering day range for the testing year, and have fewer than 10 percent errors on the monthly report. Further monetary awards are made thereafter for each five consecutive' years a supervisor receives the Merit Award. They range from $25 for five consecutive years service to $lOO for 20 consecutive years and above. Lancaster County has a total of 16 DHIA supervisors currently working.
