HARRISBURG - Penn
sylvania cattle feeders had
68,000 cattle and calves on
feed April 1, 1980 for
slaughter market, down six
percent from last year,
according to the Penn
sylvania Crop Reporting
Service.
Marketings of fed cattle
during the January-March
quarter of 21,000 were down
19 percent from the same
quarter a year earlier.
Placements of cattle and
calves on feed during the
January-March quarter
totaled 12,000,28 percent less
than the same quarter last
year.
Expected marketings
during the April-June
quarter, if realized at 30,000,
would be three percent more
than were marketed during
the same period a year ago.
Cattle and calves on feed
for slaughter market in the
23 states on April 1, 1960
totaled 10.2 million head.
This number was down eight
percent from the same date
in 1979 and is 13 percent less
than two years ago.
Placements during
January-March were 5.22
million, 11 percent fewer
