interest in restoring homes
that are almost 200 years
old. Ours was not in need of
restoring! No one had ever
changed it very much from
its original design during all
those years, although we can
see where a bake oven was
installed in the one wall of
our present dining room.
Later this was replaced by a
large walk-m stone fireplace
and bake oven, now part of
our kitchen.
When we moved here we
only needed to add elec
tricity, heat and water.
Now when I see the
remams of a house, set back
from the road, with only a
few walls remaining, a lilac
bush or two and a few trees;
I feel sad as 1 think of what
could have been.
