Society 1
The April meeting of
Group 1 was held at the
home of Grace Schaeffer,
Oley.
Russel Haas, National
Bank of Boyertown, ex
plained the difference of
state and national banks. He
spoke on the advantages and
disadvantages of a bank
being named executor of a
will and the use of safety
deposit boxes.
Donations were given to
Liane Haas, Glen Yanos and
the Amityville United
Church of Christ. The 40th
Anniversary plans of Group
1 to be held April 30 at the
Berks County Agricultural
Center, were completed.
President Catherine
Yanos appointed Martha
Levan chairlady of the
county silent auction which
is held October 4 at the Berks
County Agricultural Center
in Bemville
Wedding anniversary
wishes were extended to
Catherine Yanos, Lillian
Hetrick and Pearl
Levengood
The next meeting will be
May 14 at the home of Donna
Haas, Blacksmith Road,
Amityville. Her daughter,
Lon, will do a macrame
demonstration.

Society 4
Berks County Group 4 held
their monthly meeting
recently at the home of
Linda Taylor, Palm.
A memorial Prayer was
read by Verna Taylor for
Katherine Harrison, a
former member of Group 4,
who passed away recently

Cash donations were sent
to both the William But and
the Wilfred Norman
families, both of whom
suffered home fires.
Verna Taylor, Dorothy
Barrett, Jeanine Franz and
Jean Waldo will help with
Bingo at Berks Heim on 1
April 17th.
Twelve members will
attend the 40th Anniversary
of Group 1 at the Ag Center
at Berks Heim on April 30th.
The group drove to a green
house in Red Hill, operated
by Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Heist. Mrs. Heist gave a talk
on hydroponic gardening,
which is her specialty.
After returning to Linda
Taylor’s home, she was
surprised with a
housewarming shower.
The next meeting, on May
6, will be at the home of Jean
Waldo, 44 N Reading
Avenue, Boyertown
Cumberland Co,
Society 10
Cumberland County
Society 10 met recently at
the home of Jane Keefer,
Shippensburg Rl.
Eight members were
present and answered roll
call by naming their oldest
piece of furniture and telling
its age.
Plans were started for a
mother-daughter banquet to
be held in May.
In April, a Stanley party
was held at the home of
Donne Barnhart, Newburg.

Society 3
Lancaster Group 3 was
entertained by Society 25 at
a luncheon Saturday at
Salem Lutheran Fellowship
Hall, Ephrata.
During a short business
meeting, a contribution of
fifty dollars was made to the
Ephrata Public Library.
Members will be en
tertained Saturday, May 24
by Society 12 at Millersville.
Entertainment at the
recent meeting was fur
nished by the musical groups
from Cocahco, Ephrata and
Warwick high schools.
The next meeting will be
held May 17 at Salem
Lutheran Church, Ephrata.

Society 7
Lancaster Society 7 met
Saturday at the home of
Esther Hoffer, Ellendale
Drive.
The members answered
roll call by telling what they
saw from their kitchen
window.
Chalk artist, Joyce
Busbong entertained the
group by drawing a floral
arrangement while playing a
gospel record.
The next meeting will be
held Saturday, May 10 at the
home of Miriam Keneagy,
Paradise. This will be a
plant and food sale.
