Fulton Grange to hold open house Monday 9 April 28
OAKRYN The regular
meeting of Fulton Grange
No. 66 was held recently at
Oakryn.
The youth committee held
their game night in March
with a good attendance and
Sheiss tops Eastern National Hog Show
TIMONIUM, Md. - Eric
Sheiss of Chambersburg,
showed the grand champion
market hog in the live
competition at the Eastern
National Livestock Spring
Hog Show at Hagerstown,
Maryland.
The 215 pound Duroc
barrow was bred on the
Sheiss family’s home farm
near Chambersburg.
Enc also showed the
grand champion barrow in
the carcass evaluation
contest of 4-H & FFA pigs.
His barrow weighed 205
pounds, was 32.25 inches
long, had 6.03 square inches
of loin eye and just over one
inch of backfat.
Dan and Dawn Hoff of
Manchester, Maryland,
showed the grand champion
‘Futurity barrow. The Hoffs’
barrow went on test
weighing 69 pounds and
weighed 280 pounds at the
■ end of the 120 day test
period. The barrow was over
32 inches long and had 6.47
square inches of loin eye.
John Wildesen, Manager
of the Eastern National
Livestock Show said, “The
barrow was easily the best of
over 90 barrows that were in
the test group. He finished a
full four points ahead of the
next pig and sometimes a
few tenths of a point will
separate the barrows.”

Livestock Show Spring Hog

meeting recently at the 4-H
Center.

Spring Preview Show, which
is to be held on May 31 at the
York Fairgrounds. Any

be the speaker and farmers,
in particular, are urged to
attend to hear his proposal to
