fanners to political figures,
a Resource Conservation Act
meetmg was held in Get
tysburg on Tuesday, March
11,1980.
The RCA meeting, held at
the Adams County National
Bank on the Harrisburg
Road, was a joint effort of
the United States Depart
ment of Agriculture’s local
Soil Conservation Service
and the Agricultural
Stabilization and Con
servation Service offices in
Gettysburg

PEANUT BUTTER BALLS
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup light com syrup
1 cup instant dry milk
1 cup cookie crumbs (chocolate cookies with no filling are
the best)
Place about 10 cookies in a clean plastic bag (a plastic
bread bag works great). Crush the cookies with a rolling
pin and set aside
Mix peanut butter, com syrup and dry milk crystals
together thoroughly. Shape into balls about the size of a
nickel. Roll balls in the cookie crumbs and place on a
cookie sheet. Refrigerate about one hour to harden.

RCA, which was passed in
1977, addresses the serious
resource conservation
problems that have surfaced
over the years and that have
become threatening to non
federal land areas.
The Act focuses on seven
resource areas, and also
presents seven alternative
strategies that could be used
in achieving the con
servation objectives.
The seven resource areas
are: soil resource quantity
and quality; water quality;
water supply and con
servation; fish and wildlife,
habitat; upstream flood
damages; energy con
servation and production;
related natural resources.
The seven alternative
strategies accompanying
these resource areas are
redirect present programs,
cross compliance; regional
resource projects; state
leadership; regulation,
conservation performance
bonus; and natural resource
