Over 2000 people toured the restored building that day. On the following Monday, Dairy Week at the bank began as planned. Mrs. Allen and her crew served free milk, punch, cheese, and crackers, all donated by local businesses Penny took her turn everyday after school. Dairy princesses from Tioga and Sullivan Counties joined Penny on Friday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. to climax the Dairy Week. Penny had another novel promotional idea, too. Today she helps with the milk of 100 Holstems and feeds the calves She owns three Holstein cows, one heifer, and four calves. Her dad, Charles, can surely use her help for the farm has a total of 1100 acres, of which 800 are tillable In addition to the dairy herd which averages 17,147 pounds of milk and 603 pounds of butterfat, there are beef cattle, sheep, and hogs. During her reign, Penny has travelled nearly 5000 miles, spoken to more than 20 groups, been in 11 parades, prepared more than 20 radio tapes, and handed out over 5500 promotional materials in cluding recipes. Her next speaking engagement is at a local Rotary Club. Along with all that she still finds time to sing in the church choir at her local church at Bailey’s Comors, playes the piano, and is a substitute Sunday School teacher. In June she will graduate from Troy High School and is anticipating entering the nursing program at the Amot Ogden Nursing School of Nursing, Elmira, N.Y. in the fall.
