Members of Society 6 met
at the home of Mrs. Richard
Schlegel.
The Sunshine Committee
reported that they sent
planters to Mrs. Mary Youse
in the Reading Hospital and
Medical Center and Mrs.
William Koch who just had a
baby. Get Well cards were
went to people in the com
munity.
The group has received an
invitation to attend the 40th
anniversary celebration on
April 30th for Group 1 at

Center.
Several of the members
will be attending the Spring
Rally Thursday, May 1, at
York Fair Grounds,
Memorial Hall.
A donation was given to
the March Of Dimes. Two
cases of bed pads will be
given to Berks Heim.
The next meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs.
Harold Snyder, R.D. #l,
Oley, on March 18. The
ladies are making their own
Easter Bonnets, to be judged
at the meeting.
Cumberland
Co. Society 20
Society 20 met February
20th at the home of Pat Tack,
Carlisle.
Donations were approved
to the Claremont Farms
Auxiliary and the Dairy
Princess Contest in Cum
berland County.
Plans were made for a trip
to be made in the fall but the
destination will be decided at
a later date.
The program for the
evening was a Player Piano
Sing-a-Long.
The March meeting will be
held at the home of Evelyn
Weber. This will be a party
to celebrate the 16th an
niversary of our
organization. Secret Pals for
the past year will be
revealed at this meeting.

Society 16
The February meeting of
Society 16 was held m the
home of Marthae Hertzler.
Trooper Breen of the
Harrisburg State Police
presented the program,
“Lady Beware”. After a
short film, he answered
questions and stressed the
prevention is the best
defense against attack.
Next month, papers will be
distributed, and we will
compile a “Sunshine Book”
for shut ins.
The March meeting will be
held at the home of Linda
Brandt. Bedding plants for
the garden will be discussed.

Society 2 met at the home
of Luella Low, Manheim.
Members responded to roll

Society 2
call by naming the first sign
of spring, and a few ladies
reported sighting robins.
The Sunshine Committee
reported sending 8 cards and
one fruit basket. The Ways
and Means Committee will
entertain Society 24 at the
Lancaster Farm and Home
Center.
The spring banquet will be
held at the Brickerville Fire
Hall on March 8 at 6:00 p.m.
At this banquet, ladies will
entertain their husbands.
Six members will go to
Lancaster to stuff letters for
Easter Seals. The project for
1980 is to have Society
member’s children and
grandchildren create
something to be judged at a
later date.
Ten members signed up
for the Spring Rally which
will be held at the York
County Fair Grounds
Memorial Hall on May 1.
March 22, six member
ladies will be going to
Harrisburg to assist with the
art show sponsored by
LARC.

Society 3
Society 3 met February 16
at the home of Salhe Snyder.
Alice Trumbaurer hosted
members at her home
Tuesday, February 19, to
make bed pads and cancer
pads.
Applications for the
Society’s scholarship will be
taken to Ephrata, Warwick
and Cocalico High Schools.
Nine lap robes have been
completed and presented to
patients at Maple Farms
Nursing Home. Medication
expenses also were paid for
a needy person.
Family night will be held
March 7, at 6:30 at the
Mt. Airy Fire Hall. Program
for the meeting was a
presentation by the Lan
caster County Poultry
Queen.
The next meeting will be at
the home of Barbara
Stauffer, March 15, and will
feature Rose Anne.

James B. McMullm, a
Lieutenant on the Lancaster
Police force and an avid
traveler, was guest speaker
