Buyers from as far north as
Massachusetts and as far
south as Tennessee flocked
:o the special Friday horse
sale held recently at New
Holland Sales Stables.
According to Paul Snyder,
'he number of mules and
>¥ork horses was lower at
his sale than at some of the
special sales conducted by
he Stables in the past.
Inyder feels, however, that
here will be more of these
.wo categories at the next
.pedal sale to be held March
”,at 10:00 a.m.
A tack sale will preceed
the sale at 9:00 a.m. Snyder
stated that these tack sales
usually contain an assort
ment of harness and horse
paraphenalia ranging from
oridles and sleighs to farm
equipment such as
cultivators.

I’ve heard that if you give
injections to young livestock
in their rumps, it can affect
their development of the
muscles in their hind
quarters. Where should
intermuscular shots be
given, rump or neck?
Dr. Riegel comments:
It’s possible that in
termusular injections given
in the rump area of young
livestock can affect
muscular development.
This is especially true if
the substance being injected
is very irritating, and is
injected near major nerves
in the hind leg.
This is a definite con
sideration when dealing with
purebred show stock, where
conformation of the hind
quarters is of great im
portance.

The rump area is, in most
cases, the most convenient
place to give intermuscular
injections, and the
probability of causing
problems with muscular
development is not ex
tremely great.
