The recipes range from simple such as the Michigan Rocks to more complex as in the Potato buns and cooking them should be a relaxing activity for a weekend or after school. 1 gallon milk 3 eggs 1 pint buttermilk Bring sweet milk to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 4 eggs with 1 pint buttermilk and stir until it curdles. Pour into cloth and drain off whey. Yields between 1 and 2 pounds. FROZEN BERRY FLUFF 2 cups (1 package) crisp graham crackers 5 tablespoons butter 2 egg whites 1 tablespoon vanilla 11/2 cups sugar 2 cups fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries or blueberries) 1 cup heavy cream, whipped Mix cracker crumbs and butter. Press int 6 buttered 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 8 minutes. Beat egg whites and vanilla slightly in large bowl. Gradually beat in sugar and berries. Beat at high speed 12 to 15 minutes until mixture is fluffy and has large volume. Fold in whipped cream and spread over crumb crust. Freeze overnight. Cut into squares or wedges to serve. Makes 13 x 9 inch pan full. 2 packages yeast 1/2 cup warm water 3 eggs 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup mashed potatoes 1/2 cup butter or margarine 3/4 cup warm water 1 teaspoon salt 6 cups flour Measure flour into large bowl. Dissolve yeast in % cup warm water. Mix all other ingredients together except flour. Add yeast to the mixture. Pour mixture over the flour and mix well. Cover and let rise in a warm place. Knead a little and shape into buns. Place onto greased cookie sheets. Bake on middle shelf at 375 degrees F. for 10 minutes. Serves 25 to 30. Susie Stoltzfns, Age 13, Trout Run SWEETCHEESE Mary Ann Martin, Age 6, New Holland Barbara Fisher, Age 11, Paradise POTATO BUNS 2 cups sugar 1/2 qip vinegar 2 tablespoons butter Combine ingredients and cook until mixture is brittle when dropped into cold wqter (270 degrees F.) Pour onto buttered plates. Mark into squares while warm or roll into small balls. / MICHIGAN ROCKS 11/2 cups granulated sugar 1 pound fine cut up dates 11/2 teaspoons soda 5 teaspoons hot water 1 cup melted margarine 4 beaten eggs 3 cups flour ■' 1 teaspoons cinnamon or vanilla 3/4 cup One nuts Mix sugar, dates, soda and hot water. Add shortening and eggs and mix. Mix flour and flavoring with other ingredients, then add nuts. Bake at 350 degrees F. Rachael Stoltzfua, Age 13, Wltmer MONSTER COOKIES 12 eggs 2 pounds brown sugar 4 cups white sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla 1 tablespoon molasses Bteaspoonssoda 1 pound butter (do not substitute margarine) 3 pounds peanut butter 18 cups oatmeal 1 pound chocolate chips 1 pound M& M’s Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix in a dishpan in the order given. Drop by large tablespoonfuls and flatten. Place about 6 on each cookie sheet. Bake for 12 minutes. Do not over bake. (This recipe does not call for flour).
