hundredweight and an ex
cess milk price of $11.35.
The weighted average
January price was $12.04 and
the butterfat differential for
the month was 15.0 cents.

held
to be

terested persons are urged
to attend two regional
meetings for public par
ticipation and comment on
the future of conservation
programs of the U.S.
Department of Agriculture.
The public is being asked
to help USDA decide how to
accelerate the application of
conservation work now
administered under its 34
programs.
The meetings are being
held under the provisions of
the Soil and Water
Resources Conservation Act
of 1977. Under RCA,
Congress directed USDA to
appraise the condition of the
nation’s soil, water and
related resources, and to
propose programs to guide
future conservation ac
tivities.
The USDA has set national
objectives for reducing soil
erosion and preserving
prime farmlands; im
proving water quality;
conserving water; im
proving fish and wildlife
have a

and accounted for 55.80
percent of total producer
milk receipts during the
month, up from 53.46 percent
in December but slightly
below the 56.03 Class I
utilization percentage last
January.
