York Co. fanners elect committeemen
YORK - The York County
Agricultural Stabilization
and Conservation Service
recently held an election for
county and community
committeemen to serve
during 1980.
Mr. Richard L. Deardorff
was again re-elected to serve
on the county committee for
the next three years. Ad
ditionally, he received the
honor of being re-elected to
the position of chairman of
this committee.
The county committee is
responsible for ad
ministering assigned
programs for the United
States Department of
Agriculture. Since programs
must be administered in
accordance with the laws,
regulations, and National
and State policies,
procedures, and in
structions, it is necessary for
the county committee to be
well informed on the various
programs and see that the
public ismformed.
The county committee
holds a regular meeting each
month as well as special
meetings as needfed, Ad
-'ditionally, they are required
to attend policy meetings,
conferences, and training
sessions in their respon
sibilities as representatives
oftheASCS-USDA.
This job is a public trust
and one of the few where
farmers have the op
portunity to elect the persons
they wish to represent their
county.
