The fed cattle trade followed a more stable course than most recent weeks. Prices edged cautiously upward under a generally good demand by most buying interests despite only limited early support from carcass trading. Yield grade con tinued to be a major price determining factor with best inquiry for Choice 3 steers producing a 600-800 lbs. carcass. Heifers were in good demand as carcass pnces were virtually the same as carcass steer prices. Local marketings were moderately expanded over the previous week, but were quite well distributed over the trading period. The run mcluded a fairly liberal percentage Choice steers and heifers although many consignments were mixed 3- 4 yield grade and some carried a rather heavy coating of mud. Slaughter steers made up ap proximately 45 percent of the week’s total and heifers 33 percent, cows comprised 15 percent and feeders 5 percent.
