ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The
American Angus Auxiliary
elected 1980 officers during
their annual luncheon and
meeting at the National
Western Stock Show m
Denver.
Mrs. Ray Adams from
Tahoka, Texas, was elected
president of the national
Angus women’s group.
President-elect is Mrs. Jack
Rae from Onondaga,
Michigan.
Other officers are: second
vice president, Mrs. Dale
Wells, Dover, Oklahoma;
Schedule set for Farm Equipment Expo
HARRISBURG - Penn
sylvania Agriculture
Secretary Penrose Hallowell
today announced the Second
Annual Farm Equipment
Exposition will be held at the
Farm Show on February 28,
29 and March 1.
“The Farm Equipment
Exposition is an excellent
opportunity for fanners and
the general public to see
what is new in farm
machinery m 1980,” said
Hallowell.
College scholarships open
to Angus enthusiasts
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -
College scholarships totaling
$4,000 will be awarded to
deserving young cattlemen
in 1980 by the American
Angus Auxiliary, reports
Mrs Ray Adams, Tahoka,
Texas, president of the
national Angus women’s
organization.
The money represents an
increase over the amount
offered m 1979, reports Mrs
Dale Wells, Dover,
Oklahoma, scholarship
chairman for 1980
The announcements were
made at the recent annual
meeting of the American
Angus Auxiliary held in
Denver in conjunction with
the National Western Stock
Show
The scholarships will be
awarded to six high school
graduating senoirs who are
active in Angus beef projects
and school, community and
church activities. Three girl
and three boy winners will
be selected from each of the
respective state ap
plications.

A total of 158 persons at-
tended the annual Auxiliary
luncheon and heard an in
teresting and educational
presentation by Vemta Van
Caspel from Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Van Caspel,
president of Van Caspel and
Company Inc., a brokerage
firm, and president of Van
“This show is geared to
farmers’ spfecific needs in
supplies and production
machinery.”
A good crowd is expected
for the three-day machinery
expo, winch will feature
everything m farm services
and equipment needs from
seeds and fertilizers to
tractors and combines.
Over 170 commercial
exhibitors will be on hand at
the exposition from 8 a.m. to
9 p.m. daily.
First place scholarship in
each group will be $l,OOO
with $6OO for second and $4OO
for third.
The entry deadline is June
25 and the winners will be
announced following the
judging of the applications
during the American Angus
Futurity in Louisville,
Kentucky. Applications may
be made through state or
regional Angus Auxiliaries

donated heifer each year at
the American Angus
Futurity The heifer this
year is being donated by
R&J Ranch, Mr and Mrs.
Ray Plumb, Briggs, Texas.
Another first for 1980 is
that the top five girl ap
plicants will be invited to the
national Angus meeting at
the North American In
ternational Livestock Ex
position in Louisville,
Kentucky They will be in
terviewed and the 1981 Miss
American Angus will be
selected from the top five
scholarship applicants.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Dave
Pingrey, registered Angus
cattle breeder from Benton,
Mississippi, was elected
president of the American
Angus Association for 1980 at
the organization’s recent
annual meeting in Denver,
Colorado.
Pingrey, who received a
unanimous vote from the 283
delegates attending the
meeting, succeeds retiring
president J. E. Horton Jr. of
Madison, Alabama. Horton,
who conducted the meeting.

In other business, the
delegates approved, by voice
vote, an amendment to the
Association by-laws that will
halt the issuing of life
memberships in the
American Angus Association
after September 30, 1980.
From that tune on, regular
memberships will be issued,
and this type of membership
will be subject to annual
dues. The status of life
memberships will ,be un
changed, and both active life
and active regular members
of the American Angus
Association will be eligible to
vote.
