According to Anthony J.
Rubmo, Chairman of the
Maryland State Apple
Commission, “the contest is
a wonderful way of uniting
the pnde of the apple grower
in his product with the skill
of the store and its produce
manager when it comes to
sellmg that apple. ”
“It’s a good two way
learning street,” adds
Rubino, “in that it gives a
chance for apple growers to
see at first hand the
marketing skills needed at
the retail end of the business
of serving up fresh fruit to
the consumer.”
Winners m the contest
represent a range of food
stores throughout the state
independents to the large
chain supermarkets.
