Cows were firm to 50 higher and bulls firm. Fed cattle prices came under considerable down ward pressure in reflection of a bearish carcass trade, and the general atmosphere was one of caution. Yield grade continued to be a major price-determining factor as the price dif ferential between yield grade 3 and yield grade 4 carcasses still ranged 7.00- 9.00 per cwt. In addition, many cattle earned a moderate amount of mud which was further aggravated by a mid-week rain. There was a fairly liberal percentage Choice steers and heifers on offer although many were mixi 3-4 yield grade. Slaughter steers made up approximately 47 percent; heifers 33 percent; cows 14 percent and feeders 6 per cent. STEERS: On Tuesday, load Choice 3 1245 lbs. 67.50.
