up by a few miles
MANHEIM If you’re
planning to shop at Kreiders
Dairy Store on Route 72
south of Manheim, be
prepared to pay more for
your milk than if you stopped
at their Doe Run Road store.
The Kreiders make no
secret about the higher
prices they are charging at
the Route 72 store. As a
matter of fact, they have a
sign on the counter that tells
their customers to shop at
their dairy store several
miles away for a better buy.
What is gomg on? The
Kreiders have been forced
to comply with Section 402 of
the Pa. milk marketing law,
amended most recently in
1968.
This law says that any
The higher milk prices don’t seem to have
daunted the customers at Kreider Dairy Farm
Store, located south of Manheim. For those looking
for the lower price for a half gallon of milk, the
Kreiders encourage them to shop at their Doe Run
Road store, located on their farm.

Earl Fink, of the Pa. Milk
Marketing Board, said if the
milk is sold off the farm, the
store must comply with the
fixed price, charging a
minimum of 94 cents per half
gallon.

judge ruled that Kreiders
Dairy Store located along
Rt. 72 is not exempt from the
milk marketing law because
the milk sold at that store
has left the farm, stated
Fink.
This ruling has forced the
Kreiders Dairy Store to sell
their milk for two different
prices at their two store.
When asked about this
ruling and its effect on their
stores, the Kreiders said
they preferred not to com
ment for personal reasons.
The court decision rein
