Dawn Raubenstine of R 1
Hanover, York County, took
many ribbons. She placed
first in the display of canned
vegetables, display of
canned fruit and jam
classes.
A Somerset County 4-H’er,
Diane Mishler, gave
Raubenstine some stiff
competition as she also took
a variety of blue ribbons.

Ten grain studies proposed
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Ten
grain standardization
studies are proposed for
1980, the U.S. Department of
Agriculture announced.
The Federal Gram In
spection Service invites the
grain trade and interested
individuals to submit
comments on suggested
standardization priorities.
FGIS proposes to:
-Investigate inspection
procedures for field testing
of alpha amylase in wheat,
uniform allowances for
weevily gram, reporting
dockage percentages, and
certificating organic
acidtreated grain:
-Review the U.S. Stan
dards for beans, hay and
straw, and mixed gram; and
-Investigate the need for
introducing standards for
