off. Heifers were mostly 50
cents lower. Cows were
1.00-1.50 lower, and bulls
were steady.
Four day receipts 13,800;
compared 9,600 for three
days last week; and 16,800
for four days a year ago.
The Fed cattle trade
followed an uneven pattern
during the week under
review. Firm prices prevail
ed on the opening session
under a generally good de
mand; however, prices were
forced downward on Tues
day, with steers under
greatest pressure. Part of
the downturn was regained
at midweek on a curtailed
supply. Yield grade was a
major price-determining
factor and most interests
were not particularly ag
gressive for numbers beyond
close up requirements m
view of poor movement of
the finished product. There
was a fairly liberal percen
tage choice steers and
heifers on offer, although
many were Mixed 34 yield
grade and some carried a
modest amount of mud.
Slaughter steers made up
approximately 51 pet. and
heifers 29 pet. cows compris
ed 11 pet. and feeders 6 pet.
