Henley of Cochranville, Chester County, captured the grand and senior championshipos in open class Ayrshire judging competition at the 64th Farm Show .with “Towerview Kelly’s Heather,” a 5-year old. Reserve grand and reserve senior champion was “Sycamore Meade Albi Cam,” a 2-year-old exhibited by E. E. Keefer and Don Shetterly of Millersburg, Dauphin County. * Junior champion was “Towerview Star Cadrm,” a senior yearling shown by Sharon Nolan, William Henley’s married sister of Cochranville, Chester County. “Cove Creek Boys Kate Kat,” a senior yearling, won the reserve junior cham pionship. The animal is owned by Joey Welsh of East Berlin, York County. Towerview Farm, owned by the Kennard Henley Family of Cochranville, was both the premier exhibitor and premier breeder awards. In youth competition, William Henley’s five-year old walked off with grand and senior championship honors. Tiny Lona J. Rader, barely older than the 3-year old “Homestead Acres Royal Lady”, took reserve grand and reserve senior championships. Lona is from Connoquenessmg, Butler County. Sharon Nolan’s senior yearling was the junior champion and Joey Welsh’s senior yearling was reserve grand. Polled Hereford queen BY SHEILA MILLER HARRISBURG Tammy Hamilton travelled across the state to attend the Polled Hereford show at this year’s Pa. Farm Show. She was slated to serve a major part in the show since she is this year’s Pa. Polled Hereford Queen. The petite blonde hails from North East, a town that actually lies along Lake Erie in northwestern Penn sylvania. The seventeen year old queen has served the state associations since last March.' During her reign, Hamilton has attended the national show in Louisville, Kentucky, field days, and parades as the P.H. representative for the state. She squeezes her cattle activities into her school schedule. A senior at North East High School, Hamilton is the co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. She is also a member of the FFA where she serves as the ' chapter and county vice president. Besides representing the breed, the Polled Hereford queen owns eight head of the bold breed. She has shown her cattle at local fairs where she has won champion honors. At the Waterford Fair, she showed the reserve cham pion bull. She took the same honor at the Watsburg Fair. During the Albion show, Hamilton’s cattle stepped up into the grand champion circle with a grand bull and heifer. She is hoping to someday have a large herd and a farm of her own. At the present time, Hamilton keeps her growing herd on her parents’ 25 acre farm. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Hamilton, have a commercial herd of cattle on the farm.
