$12.62 for November milk
NEW YORK, N.Y. -
Dairy farmers supplying
milk plants regulated under
the New York-New Jersey
marketing orders during
November will be paid on the
basis of a uniform mice of
$12.62 per hundred pounds or
27.1 cents per quart.
Market Administrator
Thomas A. Wilson, who
announced November’s
price, also stated that the
uniform farm price was
$12.64 per hundredweight in
October 1979 and $11.54 per
hundredweight in November
1978. The uniform price is a
marketwide weighted
average of the value of farm
milk used for fluid and
manufactured dairy
products.
Broiler placements
jump II percent
HARRISBURG -
Placements of broiler chicks
in the Commonwealth during
the week ending December 8
were 2,235,000, according to
the Pennsylvania Crop
Reporting Service.
The placements were 11
percent above the
corresponding week a year
earlier and three percent
above the previous week.
Average placements during
the past nine weeks were two
percent below a year earlier.

fund returned $2,239,004.02
or $.289 per hundredweight
to the diary farmer’s
uniform price for November.
This included $445,208.59
interest earned on the fund.
The fund was generated by
reducing the uniform price
during the high production
spring months.
The total amount of milk
received from the 17,541
dairy farmers supplying the
New York-New Jersey
Marketing Area was
773,586,332 pounds during
November 1979. This was
more than 23.1 million
pounds above last year.
The gross value to dairy
farmers for milk deliveries
was $99,851,236.51. Wilson
poultry producmg states
were 74,998,000, one percent
above the previous week and
four percent above the same
week a year ago. Average
placements during the past
nine weeks were one percent
above a year ago.
Broiler-fryers slaughtered
in Pennsylvania under
Federal Inspection during
the week ending November
28 totaled 1,351,000, with an
average hveweight of 4.22

pared with $12.15 a year ago.

48.8 percent, was used to
manufacture Class II
products including butter,
cheese, ice cream and
yogurt For this milk the
handlers paid $11.33 per
hundredweight.
The uniform price is based
on milk containing 3.5
percent butterfat. For
November 1979, a dif
ferential of 14.9 cents was
applied to the price for each
one-tenth of one percent that
the milk tested above or
below the 3.5 percent
standard.
All prices quoted are for
bulk tank milk received
within the 201-210 mile zone
from New York City.
