Over 60 members, leaders and guests took part in the awards dinner. Speaking for the evening event was N. Alan Bair of Atlantic Breeders Cooperative, Lancaster. Two top awards went to junior dairy members of the club. Bndgette Boyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Boyer, York, was named the Rookie Girl. Honored as the most en thusiastic member was Susan Eisenhart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Eisenhart, Thomasville Rl. Debbie Wolf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Wolf, Abbottstown, earned the highest placing in overall individual judging. Second place went to Kathy Rauhauser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rauhauser, Dover. Broiler placements down five percent HARRISBURG Placements of broiler chicks in the Commonwealth during the week ending November 3, 1979 were 1,856,000, ac cording to the Pennsylvania Crop Reporting Service. The placements were five percent below the correspondening week a year earlier, and five per cent below the previous week. Average placements during the past nine weeks were three percent below a year earlier. Central dairy club hosts achievement banquet Members took part during the year’s activities, in the Hoard’s Dairymen magazine’s cattle judging contest. High club judge in that contest was Jonathan Myers, Thomasville Rl. Trophies were also presented to high individuals in breed categories in the publications’ judging competition. Jersey breed winner was Mike Welsh, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Welsh, East Berlin Rl. Roy Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodman Thompson, East Berlin Rl, topped the Guernsey breed division. Ayrshire division award went to Carol Mundis, of York. Christine Wolf and George DeMers were honored for outstanding participation with “Keep Up the Good Work” awards and new member, David Simons, was presented a tape measure for use in maintaining growth records on his project calf.
