YORK - A 4-H Hog Show
was held at the York Fair
last week. The show included
fitting and showmanship
contests as well as market
hog and breed classes.
In the fitting competition
there were three age
divisions. John Mummert
placed first in the 15 and
older age division. The
showmanship contest was
won by Harold Mummert.
Gus Parlett won both the
grand and reserve champion
honors in the Chester White
breed contest. He also
placed first in the fitting
competition in the 8-11 year
old division. Parlett
exhibited a Poland China
hog to win first place and
won the reserve cham
pionship in the market hog
competition.
Brian Bankert exhibited
the grand champion, 265
pound, market hog and took
numerous top placings in the
Duroc classes contests.
Steve and Melissa Trostle,
swept the Spotted Hog breed
class, Steve took the grand
championship while his
sister took reserve honors.
Melissa had also placed first
in the showmanship com
petition.
The Yorkshire breed class
championship and reserve
honors were awarded to
Ronald Wilson.
Harold Mummert took the
grand championship in the
Landrace competition while
Shelly Bankert earned the
reserve honors.
