Del. champion
lamb sold
The champion market iamb in the Junior Sheep
Show at the Delaware State Fair was exhibited by
Patty Hammond, 17, of Bear. She is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. William Hammond and a member
of the Pencader 4-H Club. The 110-pound Hamp
shire lamb was purchased in the sale of champions
by Acme Market, Inc., for $4.25 per pound. Pic
tured with Ms. Hammond are from left, Governor
Pierre S. DuPont IV; Helen Rutkowski, Delaware
Farm Queen; and Ralph L. Killmer, Jr., meat
merchandiser, Baltimore Division, Acme Markets.

tysburg, exhibited the grand
champion 4-H steer at the
annual South Mountain Pair
on Sept. 4. Gary also won top
honors as champion fitter
and showman.
Brad Wolf, Littlestown,
exhibited the reserve grand
champion 4-H steer. He was
also named reserve
champion fitter and placed
second in the jr.
showmanship class.
Dennis Fhckmger, Get
tysburg, exhibited the
reserve champion light
weight steer. He was also
selected reserve champion
showman and placed third in
thejr. fitting class.
Jim Reichart, Littlestown,
exhibited the champion
heavyweight steer.
Kevin Diehl, Fairfield,
exhibited the reserve
champion middleweight
steer. Kevin placed second
in the sr. showmanship class
and third in the sr. fitting
class.
Robbie Hay, Gettysburg,
exhibited the reserve
champion heavyweight
steer. Robbie placed fourth
in the ]r. fitting and
showmanship classes.
Amy Breighner, Lit
tlestown, placed first in the
heavy middleweight class.
She also placed second in the
sr. fitting class and third in
the sr. showmanship "lass

Digest reveals. A Lou Hams
poll reports that rougher
sports are also losing favor.
If parents have their way,
football, boxing and
wrestling will lose their
appeal for youngsters.

Hereford heifers. He also
placed second in the jr.
fitting and jr. showmanship
classes.
Jeff Golden, Gardners,
showed the champion FFA
steer. He also exhibited the
champion and reserve
champion FFA Polled
Hereford heifers.
Wade Thoman, New
Oxford, exhibited the
champion Scottish Highland
heifer.
Glenn Plank, Gettysburg,
exhibited the grand
champion and reserve grand
champion market lamb. A
special award was presented
by Belmont Ridge Farm and
Spring Bottom Farm. Glenn
was also selected as reserve
champion fitter and reserve
champion showman. He also
exhibited the third and
fourth placed Hampshire
market lambs.
Peggy Eastern, Fairfield,
exhibited the champion
Shropshire market lamb.
She also placed third in the
jr. fitting and showmanship
classes.
Patti Trimmer, East
Berlin, exhibited the
champion Dorset market
lamb. She was also named
champion showman and
champion fitter. A special
award was presented by
