County Farmers Association
has told the Presidential
Commission on World
Hunger that it supports well'
designed foreign assistance
programs.
Jack Kooker, Berks
County president, said these
programs not only help other
countries deal with im
mediate problems but also
contribute to the economies
growth which results in
increased trade and market,
including increased U.S.
agricultural exports.
In a recent letter to the
Commission, Kooker said a
streamlining of public law
480 (Food for Peace) is both
necessary and desirable in
order to carry out the ob
jective of the program. He
said provisions of the law
enacted in 1954 have been
encumbered by numerous
amendments that make
