There isn’t an hour - or even a minute, or a second - that passes by which doesn’t contain the wonders of Nature. Much of the time, however, we’re too busy to take notice of the miracles of life that are always present and constantly sprouting. We’re more aware of the itching and sweat that comes when we work in GET TH E RE D EDGE BUY PAY MAY 1,1980! That’s right! See Page 121 the hay field and hot mow all day. Our thoughts are occupied with production schedules and problems. Our attention is consumed by responsibilities and perhaps the radio in the barn. The routines of our daily lives have a big hold of our thoughts. But at dusk when bullfrogs and crickets begin their concert and the moon ascends into a sky dotted with stars, we have time to appreciate the serenity and miracles of this beautiful world we live in. Then - if we haven't done it before - we can thank God for having blessed our lives with a place in the country. Some folks may prefer to spend the evening in front of the television set, but let me tell you, the really big show is beneath the open sky. I guess you could say it’s a re-njn night after night, but it doesn’t get old. I love to hear the songs of crickets, watch lightning bugs sparkle over a field, smell the alfalfa hay, and listen for the distant jingling of cows’ neck chains. And the stars, above, they’re certainly a source of wonder and amazement. To think that the heavens continue into infinity, that’s incomprehensible. To realize that the moon, 230,000 miles away, has a part in life cycles on Earth, is astonishing And to know that the Carlisle Fair (Continued from Page 15) Four Year Old Cow 1. I marvel at not only the beauties that surround us night and day, but also at the orderly design found in God’s total creation. His miracles are evident in the universe which has no end, and in the tiny cells and atoms which we can only examine with a microscope. Amazingly, everything fits together to give us the world we know. The more we think about it, the more convincing that thought becomes. Barn swallows swooping through the evening sky, owls hootmg-in the woods, and the soft light of the moon blanketing the countryside - these are entertainment which fill the mind and heart with satisfaction, ap preciation, gratitude, and wonder.
