Tom and June Boyer family
of York, and their Sun
nybend Holstems, later
named the premier exhibitor
herd of the 80-head show.
C.E. Hubbard took the
first blue ribbon of the day
with his Marvex-sired junior
calf. In line behind him came

The reserve junior
champion of Bridgette
Boyer’s topped the in
termediate class, a large
group that included a
number of other junior
exhibitors. Lesley King and
Peter King were second and
third with Marvex heifers
and m fourth place was
Leonard Greek.
Semor calves were also
topped by a Black Star
daughter of Tom Boyer, with
Peter King placing second.
David King lined up third,
followed by the family
competition of Kelly and
Mike Krebs m fourth and
fifth.

Kevin Laughman’s eye
catching junior champion
headed up the junior
yearling lineup, followed by
Chris Wolf in second and
Patty Bupp m third. Patty
Greek pulled in the fourth
spot, with John Doll, Jr., and
Kathy Rauhauser in fifth
and sixth spots.
Dana Doll pulled his “Jo-
Dan BE Ivan”, senior
yearling to the head of that
class, over David King in
second, Kathy King, third,
and John Doll, Jr., in the
fourth position.
Boyer’s Sunnybend Farm
got the nod for first place m
the junior get of sire, with
Kmgway Holstems m the
second place.
Paul King’s dry four-year
old by Ivanhoe Star, placed
first, with Leroy Bupp in
second. The aged dry cow
class went to Tom Boyer
over the second spot entry of
Dana Doll.
The always-large two-year
old heifer divison was
divided into junior and
senior classes. Junior two
year-old winner was a Big
Apple heifer exhibited by
Leroy Bupp, placing over the
second animal of Ira L.
Boyer. Kevin Laughman
was third, Jonathan Miller,
fourth and Angela L. Eyster,
fifth.

the senior two-year-old class
for Tom Boyer, and was
chosen second best udder.
C.E. Hubbard 111 was
second, David King, third,
and Tom Boyer, fourth. Fifth
place and first best udder
went to an Astrogem
daughter shown by Dana E.
DoU.
The three-year-old class
saw the eventual show grand
champion and best udder of
the class, line up ahead of
second place Beshore Farms
with a daughter of
Harrisburg Gay Ideal also
named second best udder.
Third was Tom Boyer,
fourth, Leroy Bupp and fifth,
Tom Boyer.
Winner of the four-year
olds and best udder was Phil
Laughman’s reserve
champion Flame daughter.
It topped the second place
and second best uddered R
Maple daughter exhibited by
Peter King. Third was Patty
Greek, and fourth was Paul
King.
Eight-year-old “Beshore
Samson Lindy Lilly,”
daughter of the Samson sire,
captured the honors in the
aged cow class. Also named
the best udder in her class,
Lilly then won what some
exhibitors claim is the
highest breeding recognition
given m a cattle show, the
award for best female bred
and owned by an exhibitor.
Second and second best
udder was an R Maple by
Leroy Bupp, and third place
went to Paul King.
