hog show, sale lists winners
LANCASTER - Grand
champion pen of ten hogs at
the Lancaster Stockyards
market hog show and sale
was entered by Stephen S.
Stoltzfus, Leola. Consigned
by McCoy Cattle Co., the pen
of predominately Yorkshires
weighed an average of 227
pounds. They had been
named first in the
mediumweight division.
At the sale following the
show, Hatfield Packing
Company purchased the
hogs at 43.85 per hun
dredweight.
Reserve champion pen of
ten were entered by Myron
Rohrer, and the animals
were fed under contract with
White Oak Feed Mill. Three
way crosses, the hogs
brought $42.10 and were sold
to Leidy Packing Company,
Souderton. They averaged
240 pounds and had placed
first m the heavyweight

Judge Ezra Good, Hatfield
Packing Company, said that
the keenest competition in
the hog show was seen in the
mediumweight class. He
added that a better meat
type of hog is seen every
year in the show.
Amos Zook, Gap, had the
second place mediumweight
hogs. They weighed 221
pounds and sold for 42.10 to
Hatfield. In all, Hatfield
bought all but two of the 11
lots of hogs, with Leidy
purchasing the remained.
Third place in the
mediumweight went to
Rutter Farms, Lititz; with
David Landis, Lititz, taking
fourth. Ervin Burkholder,
Denver placed fifth in that
class.
In the lightweight division,
Eugene Snavely, Lititz, had

the first place hogs. Amos
Hoover, Denver, was
second; Larry Stauffer,
